Anyone else have the "cabin fever"? I also have a back thats tired from shoveling. I've been working from the house and I really want to get out!

In the meantime, what songs have you been working on since the Snow-In?

I've been working on True Colors which is coming along surprisingly well. The fingerstyle is a little tricky but with practice its coming.

Thankfully prior to all of this snow I ordered a instructional DVD by Leslie West, "The Sound and the Story" (formerly of Mountain [and for those of you who don't know Mountain, you certainly know Mississippi Queen]) from www.fret12.com.

I've also been looking over a new website I found that gives you instructional videos/tab for songs -- $2.99 each. I find their way of teaching almost mimics in-person lessons. The name of the site is www.ivideosongs.com.

How about you guys/gals? What stuff are you working on to beat the 6 foot snow drift blues?

I like snow but this getting to be too much. I have gone back and worked on some Classic rock songs Boston Peace of Mind and Scorpion Rock You Like a Hurricane mainly the leads and fills. Both of these guitarists add so many little things you really have to listen for them. Also working on some new Contemporary Christian songs. Kutless Strong Tower and Amazed also Chris Tomlin Made to Worship. I also would like to advance my finger picking on my acoustic guitar. I am going to work on Jeremy Camp This Man and the Who Behind Blue Eyes. I am trying to take my guitar playing to the next level. Sometime you can use youtuube as a resource to watch how others play songs.

I have been going over my list of songs to see which ones I know without a cheat sheet. Same goes for my originals. I know that sounds bad, but most people want to listen to covers, so that's what you learn, and your stuff takes a back seat. Then you are like.....uh, what were those lyrics I never wrote down and oh yeah, I think its in this key. found 3 songs I wrote and forgot about.

I've been working on the demo of one of my original songs for a while as I learn a lot more about songwriting as an art. The song, with some very talented help, is coming along really well - it's almost not recognizable from when it started. I've been practicing it for days, so I've gotten pretty comfortable with the latest version. Other than that, just the usual noodling. smile

"Anyone else have the 'cabin fever'? ..."
Working up a new version of "Row Jimmy."

Chorus goes:
"Shovel snow, Jimmy, snow,
Gonna end soon? I dunno,
Seems an awful way to go,
Shovel snow, Jimmy, shovel, shovel snow"

Makes a good set with "Rain and Snow."

Thank goodness, the guy just wasn't catching on. No one had the nerve to tell him though. Plink plink alla time. biggrin love to Bill cuz he's special.

On the other hand, I may have to turn in my "Man" card in with the music I've been learning. New John Mayer, Nora Jones (love that B in there), and others I cannot mention, but then i'm also improving on playing Clapton's Signe, some Seether, some more 3 Doors Down, Shinedown, and old Colin Hay. Steve, since your into the fingerstyles, work up Zepplins Babe I'm Gonna Leave Ya for me please?
I find the snow MAKES me stay in and play more, and that's a good thing. You can only shovel and clean up so much before you must learn more, or at least practice the old. Anyway peace and warm to all, and now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Been listening to some Josh Turner. If I had a voice like that...

So now I am thinking about I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive by Hank Williams

Steve, since your into the fingerstyles, work up Zepplins Babe I'm Gonna Leave Ya for me please?

If you sing it.

Oh, you can add "Killing Me Softly" to my list to ... more Fugees style than Roberta. Without the "One time" stuff tho :) Get ready Jeniye!
