Little Kids Rock donation

Hi group!

I just wanted to let everyone know that my company made a donation to Little Kids Rock on behalf of the Baltimore Guitarist Group.  Also, I have committed to donate 10% of the profits from this Friday’s show back to Little Kids Rock (on behalf of the BGG), so if you want to check out some great national and local guitarists AND support Little Kids Rock, you can do both by buying tickets to this show… all the info is below.  Here’s a little about the artsists…

Anders Osborne

Grammy Award-winning songwriter and recording artist, credited with writing Tim McGraw’s hit “Watch The Wind Blow By” as well as "I Was Wrong" and "A Better Man" both Grammy-winning songs from Keb' Mo's album Slow Down. Osborne combines classic American musical forms such as blues, rock and roll, and Crescent City funk to create a sound that acknowledges no borders as they're usually understood, but defines its own space in the world and demands to be heard.

Pete Kanaras Blues Band (featuring Lil Ronnie)

Pete was a member of a succession of harp-led units such as the Fat Tuesday Blues Review, Rockinitis and the Knockouts. While in the Knockouts Pete and his friends Doug Price (of WVKR'S famous "Blues Ater Hours" radio show) and Scott Westergard were instrumental in the re-discovery of Little Sam Davis, at the time retired for 17 years. Sam went on to record a critically acclaimed album for Delmark Records and won the WC Handy Comeback Artist of the Year Award in  as well as the Little Walter Award in Los Angeles. Pete spent nine years as guitarist for the legendary Nighthawks, performing around 2000 gigs worldwide with them and appearing on 3 albums and one final dvd with blues icon Hubert Sumlin before departing in the beginning of 2004.  In the summer of 2003, Pete formed The Shambells with Dave Goodfriend, Russ Beeker, Tommy Hannigan and Nick Ruggieri, who was replaced by the monstrous Clark Matthews.  Currently in 2009, Pete divides his time between The Remnants, a truly great original roots rock band out of Annapolis and his own blues band, which is geared towards the more traditional side of things.

Pat O’Shea

New York-based singer, songwriter and guitarist Pat O’Shea has worked frequently with some of the biggest stars in blues, including the Howlin' Wolf alum Hubert Sumlin and international blues staple Joe Louis Walker, and toured with musicians like Virginia’s hard working Lil’ Ronnie, the great Philly harp master Steve Guyger, and the legendary Levon Helm.  After spending most of his adult life devoted to studying and playing traditional Chicago blues, O’Shea found his music leading him in a different direction. “All I ever wanted to do was to play real blues, play it well, play it right,” he said. “Then, out of nowhere, I found myself writing these songs that were basically straight up rock songs. I didn’t know where they were coming from and, to be honest, it kind of confused me.”  O’Shea soon embraced the change, letting his music lead him to the next stage of his musical career. And now the 39 year old is back, after a four year hiatus, working on his debut album due out later this year and affecting others through his songwriting, playing his new music with a new band and a renewed sense of purpose. “I’m just trying to make good music,” O’Shea reflected, “ be it my own or somebody else’s.”
